The ongoing revitalization of a complex in downtown Rochester, new York aims to reinvigorate the local economy. A large part of this downtown project has involved extensive removal of asbestos-containing material from various buildings in the Midtown Plaza. Last Thursday, film crews from local news station 13 WHAM News were the first to take a look at the work that had been completed so far.
Over the last four months, workers have been predominantly occupied with removal of asbestos and other preparations to make the buildings ready for a massive overhaul.
Asbestos removal is required by both state and federal law. Asbestos exposure is conclusively linked to the development of mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer.
